Metro Transit says you can park free at the 30th Avenue or Fort Snelling stations on the Blue Line, then transfer to the Green Line at U.S. Bank Stadium station. The Green Line's Stadium Village station is, in Metro Transit's own words, just steps from the stadium. An adult fare is $2 and an all day pass is $4, so a round trip costs the same either way and the parking costs nothing. This is the cheapest real answer here and it is not on the athletics parking list.

Heads up: You are committing to the train both directions, and the free station lots are shared with everyone else riding that day rather than reserved for the game. If you are tailgating you cannot do it here, because there is no tailgating at a transit park and ride.

This is the one worth knowing. Of the five parking options Minnesota sells on gameday, Lot S108 at the State Fairgrounds is the only one that permits tailgating, and it is also tied for the cheapest at $15. The St. Paul Gopher Football Shuttle runs from the lot starting three hours before the game, every ten minutes during the game, and continuously for an hour afterward or until the crowd clears. An RV space is $60, which is the only way to bring an RV on a single game basis.

Heads up: You are in St. Paul, so this is a shuttle ride rather than a walk, and the return shuttle stops running an hour after the game or once the crowd is gone. Grilling has real limits here that catch people out: gas only, no charcoal or wood, no kegs, and no glass. See the tailgating section before you pack the car.

At $15 this is half what the three ramps beside the stadium charge, and it is the cheapest thing on campus. Athletics sells it day of game on a first come first served basis, credit card only. Fans who use it describe it as less chaotic than the Oak Street ramp and say they have not had trouble finding a space, at the cost of a longer walk.

Heads up: Two cautions worth taking seriously. The university's parking office lists East River Road Garage among the facilities that normally skip event pricing, but names football as the exception, so the gameday rate does apply. And fan opinion on it splits: some say it is the easy option, while others say to avoid the ramp in that area outright because getting out is slow. Both things are probably true depending on where in the structure you end up and when you leave.

Longer, over the Washington Avenue bridge, or one short Green Line ride /// Normal garage hours

The university's parking office publishes something the athletics site does not mention at all: a short list of facilities that do not charge event rates, and two of them stay off the event list even for football. The 19th Avenue Ramp and the Weisman Art Museum Garage are both on it. The posted public rate is $3 an hour on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and $1 an hour at every other time, which on a Saturday means the cheap rate, with a daily maximum of $13 at most facilities. Fans have separately worked this out for themselves and park on the West Bank, then either walk the Washington Avenue bridge or take the Green Line from the West Bank station across to the stadium.

Heads up: Read the sign at the entrance before you commit. The university publishes one unified rate table and says rates are posted at each facility, so the exact daily maximum at these two can differ from the $13 general figure, and we did not verify either one on a football Saturday. The two garages also are not the same walk: the Weisman sits by the bridge on the stadium side of the river and the 19th Avenue Ramp is over on the West Bank. This is also the option the athletics page does not acknowledge, which is worth knowing if you ask a gameday attendant about it.

These are the three ramps beside the stadium and they all cost the same $30. Athletics sells them day of game, first come first served, card only. Nothing about them is complicated. You are paying double the East River Road rate to cut the walk.

Heads up: None of the three allows tailgating, which is the part people get wrong when they price a gameday around one of them. They also empty into the streets right around the stadium after the game, which is where the traffic is worst, so the exit is the slowest part of the day. Fans report that the Church Street garage has been contract only on some gamedays, so do not build the day around one specific structure being open to the public.

Minnesota does run overnight RV parking, in the Victory Lot next to the stadium, but it is restricted to season pass holders and only for Saturday games. Each stall is six adjacent car spaces and has to hold the RV plus one attached vehicle. RVs must be out by noon on Sunday. There are no power or water hookups, so the RV has to be self sufficient, and Minneapolis quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. apply in the lot.

Heads up: If you do not hold a season pass, this is not available to you and the single game answer is the $60 RV space at Lot S108 in St. Paul instead. The nearest dump station athletics names is Mike's LP Gas at 1350 Frost Ave in Maplewood, a $4 fee and roughly 13 miles away, so plan that leg rather than assuming something closer exists.
